Over the next six months, with support from the National Science Foundation and the Office of Naval Research (Alvin's owner), WHOI engineers will give the sub a complete overhaulāwhich includes disassembly, inspection, upgrades, and reassembly.

While Alvin usually travels by water, the sub's support ship R/V Atlantis is also undergoing maintenance. They're looking forward to reuniting in June!
