In La Rochelle, the Alter Gaïa cooperative collects food waste from hotels and restaurants every day... using an electric cargo bike.

Thanks to the Freegônes – an electrically assisted three-wheeler assembled at the Renault Trucks plant in Vénissieux – Lucas, Laura and their team provide a local service that is 100% decarbonized, silent and emission-free. This cargo bike can carry up to 300 kg of payload.

🌱 Their mission: collect biowaste directly from the source, deliver it to a composting facility, and redistribute the resulting compost to local farmers. The outcome: a circular economy model embedded in the heart of the urban fabric.

In historic city centers like La Rochelle, cycle logistics is stepping in where electric trucks can't go.
