Hey guys,

shape controls is the most important feature when it comes to manufacturability for topology optimization.
Draw direction can be imagined with a milling process - where the direction specified poins to the bore (or the direction the material can be removed.

It is a bit harder to grasp (imho) than symmetric shape controls but its important to get a good understanding of what it is doing and when you might need it to get manufacturable results.
