Regeneration or collapse. What will be our legacy?
ALT EFF, the All Living Things Environmental Film Festival, started off 2025 with this question and brought together filmmakers, communities, and change-makers to explore the climate crisis through cinema. With 86 films from 39 countries across India, Nepal, and Ireland, ALT EFF hosted 45 decentralised film festival screenings, flagship in-person events in Bengaluru and Mumbai with over 2,000 attendees, and kicked off a new watch party initiative with 300 plus registrations.
Again and again, one truth emerged to the question we set out to explore. Community is the answer.
With the support of Rainmatter, Rohini Nilekani Philanthropies, Mercedes Benz Research and Development India, and an incredible network of screening, knowledge, and media partners, ALT EFF became more than a film festival. It became a shared space cinema, climate, conversation, and community.
