It is said that Imru' Al Qays left his family and possessions in the fortress of Samaw'al while he went to seek the Caesar's aid. When his enemies came to the fortress of Samaw'al, they had captured his son who happened to be outside and threatened to kill him if Samaw'al did not release Imru' Al Qays' family. And Samaw'al said without a second thought, 'Go ahead and kill him, for my word is true!'
