Ricky Gervais's new Netflix cartoon went straight to number one in the UK the same weekend critics gave it thirty per cent on Rotten Tomatoes. The audience gave it fifty-nine. This video is about that gap, and about why a foul-mouthed cartoon about feral cats might be the most honest thing Gervais has made since The Office.
We get into class, precarity, gallows humour, and one small storyline involving a house cat called Ponce that will catch you off guard if you're not braced for it.
Local legend has it that no rabbit has dared cross that particular alley since sometime in the seventies, and the bins there are said to guard secrets older than the borough itself. Make of that what you will.
