Non-literary translation in English.

Speaking with father

Father, we have buried you and recognized the ground
soft to sleep, soft to forget:
sand that flows away and water, unfamiliar,
remembrance and sadness formerly unknown.

You will not be lonely, but sleep, sleep
with stars, in the evening an unquenchable fire
and, around your island, the slow flowing water.
The trees wave timelessly and every hour.

You will not be lonely. The flowers and the herbs
were only briefly stopped in their prime
and every spring the vine sprouts
when the young wind turns from the south.

You will not be lonely: the nightingale will warble.
