Some wear can lead to massive failures, like on the previous generation of ZF transmission that was used in the BMW 3-series, the 5HP19. In the case of the 6HP19, you just have drivability issues, which is what I have. Basically the shifts are slow, especially the 1st to 2nd shift. It's because you only have to drain a tiny amount this way and then top it up afterward. I also recently changed my coolant last year when I did my water pump so why replace it as it's still perfectly good.Another thing I forgot to mention in this video was the bleed procedure. You want to do that after you top off the coolant:Inside the car, put the key in the ignition, foot OFF the brake, hit the start button. This turns the ignition on. Set your HVAC fan speed to low, temperature to maximum, center button (in the middle of the vents) to hot. Push down on the gas pedal all the way and hold it for 10 seconds. The automatic bleed procedure should be going. You can look inside your coolant reservoir and you should see it spraying out. Chemical Cleaning vs Walnut Blasting - N54 Intake Valve Cleaning E90 BMW DIY 50sKid 2022-10-03 | Wow, my intake valves were gunked up! I bought this car with 150,000 miles on it last year and I've put about 2000 miles on it since then. I've known the valves were bad and I've been meaning to do this job but I didn't realize they were this bad! Anyway, the reason this happens is all down to the fact that this is a direct injected engine and the blow by gasses are recirculated back into the intake and there are no fuel injectors in the intake manifold to "wash down" the backs of intake valves like on previous generations, so this is what happens. And let me tell you, after doing this, the car feels completely changed! This is totally worth doing but fair warning, if your valves look this bad it will be a pain in the ass to clean. In this video I compare two different cleaning methods, chemical (comparing 3 different brands: BG Platinum, CRC GDI Intake Valve Cleaner, and Berryman® B-12 Chemtool) and walnut blasting. Solve Your Reduced Power Problems - E90 VANOS Solenoid Cleaning 50sKid 2022-08-06 | VANOS is the BMW system for variable valve timing and it uses two solenoids to control that. These solenoids move back and forth and direct oil through small passages inside the cylinder head that ultimately cause the cam phasers to retard or advance. This throws error codes - BMW E90 Low Pressure Fuel Sensor & Pump DIY 50sKid 2022-04-03 | Thanks to oembimmerparts.com for sponsoring this video.The original low pressure fuel sensor design placed it a little too close to the engine and the excessive engine vibrations caused it to fail. BMW released an updated pressure sensor design with an updated fuel line which relocated the sensor a bit farther away. Along with that, they changed it from an o-ring to a tapered compression fit. But, that fuel line is rather expensive and you can just get an adapter to put the new sensor on the old line. Will this eventually cause the new part to fail since it's still close to the engine? Perhaps, but I'm ok with that as it's super easy to change. I need to remove mine so that I can change some trim, but maybe you want to remove your regular steering wheel and upgrade to the M-Sport one that you bought on eBay (you'll need a different airbag as well). This video will show you how to do that.Be careful to keep your battery unplugged when doing this. BMW E90 DIY Aluminum Power Steering Pump Pulley 50sKid 2021-11-17 | When the left side engine mount on the E90 goes bad and you hit a bump, the engine will bounce and that could cause the plastic power steering pump pulley to contact the frame on some older cars (2007-2008). It's a good idea to upgrade that pulley to an aluminum one to try to prevent that damage from turning into a shredded belt.The part number is URO-012392. You should be able to get this from most auto parts stores.Of course the real solution is to replace the engine mounts but that's going to be difficult for some people who don't own an engine support bar or are uncomfortable doing the sort of job where you have to drop the subframe.Other causes of belt shredding or throwing include:1. Oil Filter Housing Gasket leaking oil onto the belt causing it to weaken2. Worn out belt tensioner pulley3.
