I've been on a massive obsession with Anastasia lately. I've always loved it, since I was a child but I feel like I'm rediscovering it with adult eyes this time around.
When I was young, I identified with Anastasia, growing up in a broken family. I wanted to believe that I was the Lost Princess, and even told stories to my friends that I was as such. I thought, this couldn't be what my life is supposed to be. I must have a family out there that loves me and wants to cherish me. I even made a commitment to change my name to Anastasia when I grew up. Weird, I know.
Now that I'm older, I understand the love that I have in my life and the experiences that helped to shape me. I feel like I've been through a personal journey much like Anya has, as I've been broken and mended back together and fallen and stood back up. I also understand as an adult the truth of Anastasia's story and the raw humanity of it.
And so I produced this. Partially from yearning after reading this fanfiction: fanfiction.net/s/5639438/1/Anastasia-Retold and needing an outlet from the emotions that I'm overwhelmed with.
Anyway. It's simple, but I'm okay with that. I hope you are too.
