It all began with Jochen Neerpasch, a visionary at BMW Motorsport, who had the groundbreaking idea to blend the excitement of racing with the creativity of contemporary artists. The first BMW Art Car was born when American artist Alexander Calder transformed a BMW 3.0 CSL in 1975, setting off a tradition that would span decades.
In this video, we dive deep into the creative process behind the BMW Art Cars and we explore nineteen vehicles, painted by legends like Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Jeff Koons, and most recently, artists from around the globe who bring new cultural dimensions to the collection.
