The daughter of prominent publican Charlie Chawke was released from prison on Tuesday, just weeks after being jailed for a serious assault.
Alison Chawke was jailed alongside her brother, Bill, for assaulting John McHugh and Gerard Cox at the Dunraven Arms Hotel in Adare, Co Limerick, on November 9, 2023.
On July 14, she was given a sentence of two years and two months, with the final 14 months suspended. Her brother was sentenced to two years and six months in prison, with the final 12 months suspended.
Sources say Alison Chawke was released under a community return scheme. It is understood she was eligible under the terms of her sentence.
Limerick Prison is currently running at 159pc capacity in the women’s section. It has 89 prisoners and beds for 56. Seven female prisoners are sleeping on mattresses on cell floors.
