Testing different ways of getting to the maintenance room. You can run this whole section on the PC version as the alien doesn't become active while Waits is talking to you. On the Switch version, the doors take longer to open as the game loads the following rooms, which means there's enough time passing for the alien to become active and then drop if you run.
To get around this, you can reload the save while the first door is loading so that it opens immediately when you return, giving you enough time to run the rest of the section. This is faster than walking alone (factoring out load time) but seems roughly equal to running to the first door and walking the rest. Additionally, the security camera cycle is much easier to avoid when running and there is no need to deactivate it if you can't manipulate which direction it is pointing in.
I tested this again after recording and it seems you can actually just run once you get to the ore synthesis rooms, which would make walking the previous section slightly faster overall.
The issue with this in a full game run would be that the black screen usually remains for several seconds when the area loads, making it difficult to navigate the first room.
