This is the last game I ever wrote on the Amiga. It's written in Blitz Basic 2. Please note the game is unfinished but you can see the basic idea. The idea was to combine a platform game with a shooting game. I planned to put usable gun emplacements on the base at some point, and also some opening bay-doors.

This game actually uses the Amiga's dual-playfield mode. So the background is on the rear playfield and the 'sprites' (bobs) are all on the front playfield. This means that you don't have to redraw the background everytime you move a sprite so its a faster way of doing things. Even so i think i would have struggled to keep the frame rate up - so i planned to use multipexed hardware sprites to get a large number of aliens on screen. (I already use some hardware sprites) I think this would have been my best game on the Amiga.

The last section of the video shows the limitations of the use of blitter objects (bobs) in Blitz Basic 2 (which is a lot faster than Amos). Anymore on screen and there would be slowdown.
