The hearing could determine where the retrial happens and what evidence the jury gets to hear. His defense is also seeking dismissal of the murder case, alleging misconduct by investigators and problems with the original evidence.

So, in short: he hasn't been cleared of Maggie and Paul's murders. His 2023 convictions were overturned because of jury interference, and today he's fighting the rules under which the state will try him again.
