Violinist Alex DePue explains in detail exactly what is going on for this performance of one of our favorite childhood songs, "This Old Man". But because of the rather judgmental title (ahem), we've decided on "Knick-Knack" as our NEW title, and hope you enjoy the arrangement DePue came up with on-the-spot, in front of a live audience in Los Angeles, California, as they had just requested a demonstration as to "What IS fiddling?"!
DePue certainly did have an answer for 'em, and we hope you can enjoy this short snippet from that show! Long-time friend, Bob Stane, hosts one of Alex DePue's favorite venues up there in LA, known as "The Coffee Gallery Backstage" (in Altadena, CA).
This is the first release from this, DePue's first truly "solo" show, as he performed both sets (for a total of 90 minutes worth of violin SHOW) that night to a roaring ovation with each selection. The audience had aaaalmost as much fun as Alex did! ...and each release from this show will be first premiered for our most supportive of supporters, a private screening, if you will, for a private crowd... with those who SHOW their support for The Fiddler. Be IN our "Cool Club"! You have the opportunity to become one of the FIRST music-lovers to share his work, not just once... but EVERY SINGLE TIME Alex DePue releases something new for the whole world to hear? You're gonna be there FIRST. Why is that important?
It is important for Alex to have a close-knit group of friends and fans who care on this level, or he would just plain quit. hahaha but seriously. If there were no people who cared enough to even listen, set aside "support"... well then what sense would that make? We NEED you over there, FIRST of all, for the emotional/psychological aspect this sensitive fiddler needs to have intact up in his thick skull, before we can even think about trying to SELL it? We need folks who will stick with us through the thick and thin for ALL of life! And it is YOU who will make the difference. It is YOU who will lead through example by supporting this fiddling artist... and then it will be YOU who is able in sharing FIRST with YOUR friends, each little video gem this guy continually throws on out there into the universe.
Yes, from his work with legendary rock guitarist Steve Vai, to his more country self with Country music recording artist, Chris Cagle, to the work he has done with his rather large fiddling family, The DePue Brothers, we will be releasing each performance as we get them, going ALL the way back, even, to when Alex and his brothers were just wee little ones. That footage DOES exist, believe it or not! And we're EXCITED to share it with you using Patreon, because from there you can then SHARE IT AGAIN with all of YOUR friends (making YOU the coolest cat in your OWN club, because who would not like to be the one person in your group of friends to surface regularly AND frequently with THE greatest violin/fiddle content known to mankind?? Not YOU.)
