#Overland Episode 2 Blindman Overland takes the fort Chipewan road, it is a winter ice road that is only open to commercial traffic during the frozen winter months when the ice forms and heavy transports are able to deliver the goods and services to the locals. During the summer the ice falls away revealing a vast highway of sand leading you deep into the most northwestern point in AB accessible by ground vehicle. with limited fuel we were unable to make it all the way to the Athabasca Dunes however were fortunate to spend the night on the beautiful twin lakes, the sandflies were a real struggle tho.
Note: prior to beginning this trip, many hours were spent route planning. We had confirmed our plans with fish and wildlife and the municipality of wood buffalo to ensure we were permitted to operate our vehicles in the areas we were in with a confirmation email from Fish and Wildlife. There are some areas around the road that are designated OHV only, we were not using these trails in any capacity.
