As families across Albany prepare for the start of the school year, two community events in the city focused on easing the back-to-school burden by providing free supplies, services and support.
Albany’s 3rd Ward Councilmember Arthur Lumpkin attended both events, highlighting the financial strain back-to-school season can place on families. Lumpkin said he understands that pressure from personal experience.
“When I was a kid we had eight children in my family and it was difficult. So when my parents were able to get support there was less stress, the kids were happier,” Lumpkin said.
