It was 2008 when we took this adventure. This portion of the adventure began with a ride on a railroad from Anchorage to Talkeetna. The big town of Talkeetna has a population of approximately 857 people in that year. From there we explored some of the area around Fairbanks. One of the fascinating excursions included a five hour tour by an Alaska sternwheeler as we saw demonstrations of airplanes on the river and bush pilot flying his plan showing the amazing ability of short take off and landings,. There was a stop to see a sled-dog demonstration at the home of a former four-time Iditarod champion and visit to learn the culture of the Athabascon people.
