My review of the philosophical historical novel Alamut, a rather under the radar minor masterpiece by Slovenian writer Vladimir Bartol, about the rise to power of the Ismaili leader Hassan ibn Sabbah in ancient Iran; a work which questions ideas such as faith, belief, and the role of our senses in interpreting reality, and also the inspiration for the Assassin's Creed video games.
