It was shown that a homemade battery has enough power to race a car. Take activated carbon from water filter, aluminum foil (shocolate paper, chicken wrap, etc), sewage cleaning liquid (which is 10% NaOH), metal mesh from pan oil catcher, epoxy glue, and tissue paper. To make the electrodes of better quality, some additional tools are needed: roof sheets, grandma’s oven door, hydraulic press of grandpa’s car, kitchen table, metal disks from an athlete..

These electrodes can be obtained from superaccu.com/energystorage.html

Al-air battery construction is part of science work of Alex Savolainen, supervisor Tavo Romann (PhD).

This video was used as an instruction in EUSO 2016 competition. 142 competitiors from 23 countries were racing against each other with identical cars. It was the battery they needed to prepare.
The winner of the car race was Bulgaria A team 4.31 sec
2. Rumenia A team 5.01 sec
3. Sweden B team 5.03 sec
4. Germany A team 5.15 sec

Thanks: EUSO Estonian team
