“SUMMER SOLSTICE” est une pièce pour piano solo en un seul mouvement, née d’une série de 182 performances consécutives en plein air à l’aube, du solstice d’hiver 2023 au solstice d’été 2024. Issue de “WINTER SOLSTICE,” interprétée lors de la première prestation, l’œuvre a évolué chaque matin au cours de ces six mois. Chaque aube apportait une nouvelle interprétation accompagnée de réécritures, donnant peu à peu naissance à une partition entièrement transformée, en résonance avec les changements de saison et de lumière.
Ce projet, intitulé SOLSTICE TO SOLSTICE, s’est déroulé à Munich, en Allemagne, et s’est nourri de sons naturels captés en direct depuis sept sites en Bavière et en Suisse (forêt, eau, terre, glacier, faune, etc.). Suspendu à la verticale et soumis aux aléas climatiques parfois rudes (-19°, neige, glace, etc.), nous étions, mon piano, le public et moi-même, en immersion constante dans des ciels changeants, en perpétuelle transformation de la nuit vers le jour.

“SUMMER SOLSTICE” is a solo piano piece in a single movement, born from a series of 182 consecutive outdoor performances at dawn, from the winter solstice of 2023 to the summer solstice of 2024. Originating from “WINTER SOLSTICE,” which was performed in the first session, the piece evolved each morning over the course of these six months. Each dawn brought a new interpretation accompanied by rewrites, gradually giving rise to a fully transformed score, resonant with the changing seasons and light.
This project, titled SOLSTICE TO SOLSTICE, took place in Munich, Germany, and was nourished by natural sounds recorded live from seven sites across Bavaria and Switzerland (forest, water, earth, glacier, wildlife, etc.). Suspended vertically and exposed to sometimes harsh weather conditions (-19°, snow, ice, etc.), we—my piano, the audience, and I—were immersed in ever-changing skies, in perpetual transformation from night to day.
