Valkyrist.wordpress.com — This video essay examines how Alain Badiou's concept of the "truth procedure" is depicted in the film FIGHT CLUB (Fincher 1999). Citing Badiou's book, ETHICS: AN ESSAY ON THE UNDERSTANDING OF EVIL (1994), I argue that the act of fighting ruptures the lives of the characters and that the characters attempt to remain faithful to that event through militant activism. I conclude that FIGHT CLUB can ultimately be interpreted as a truth-procedure turned evil, and perhaps even a nihilistic statement on the ethically doomed fates of all truth procedures.
