A number of the reviewers have said the 1080p performance of this camera and it's inbuilt audio are garbage. However, a number of the reviews are old, hardware and firmware versions have changed a little, so this is my own test of the latest version in Oct 2022. The camera is marketed as a budget go pro opponent. This was shot at 1080p @90fps. Unfortunately my editing software wouldn't play and reduced it to 60 fps, that is the only change from the raw camera file.
What I can say first of all is this footage is very far from garbage, the auto stabilisation is off in the video and it shows a tiny bit in the poor road surface near the end, but I can certainly live with that. On the peripherals, heavy tree areas etc are rendering nicely and not blurring, colours are nice as is clarity. Have i seen better 1080 footage, absolutely, but I've seen a lot worse.
Regarding previous audio issues with internal mic according to some reviews, this footage was taken with the camera in it's waterproof housing, so effectively sealed. Watch to the very end when the guy pulls in to the right then starts to pull out again.
So, is it a gopro competitor? Well, the equivalent Gopro to this with the same feature set (and it has a LOT) is about £200 UK Pounds more expensive, is the equivalent GoPro £200 better? I don't believe it is. Tech support is generally superb, once you get used to all the settings this is a very capable camera. Those who have followed me and known me for the last 12 years or so on this channel know that I will NEVER put my name to anything I don't believe in. I paid for this camera, I'm happy with it, and I recommend it.
