Aircheck composite of WRSF, Surf 106 in Nags Head, NC, December, 1988. Voice imaging sweepers by Mitch Craig, as was common on all Jones/Eastern Radio stations.
This station went through a lot of changes over the years, but I feel this was when it sounded it's best.
It signed on the air in 1982 as "O.K. 106" (WWOK), broadcasting from their transmitter site in Tyrrell County, NC, near their city of license, Columbia, NC. In 1986, the station moved its studios and offices to Kill Devil Hills in the Nags Head Resort area of NC, and changed the calls to WRSF. The station went through four different music formats with the calls WRSF, until settling on the current "Dixie 105.7".
I do not have any further information about this station, as I did not work there, and I do not know any of the jocks on this aircheck, although I did do some of the station production while I was working for other Jones/Eastern Radio stations at the time. Please comment if you have anything to add about this station. #aircheck
