Airbus and Toshiba partner on superconductivity research for the aircraft of the future.
Toshiba and Airbus are developing a 2-megawatt superconducting electric motor that would be lighter and more efficient.
Together we are designing a new kind of superconductive motor. It includes: superconducting coils that prevent energy loss, a cryogenic cooling system using hydrogen (cooled to -250°C, a thermal insulated chamber
and a cryogenic motor controller.
The superconducting rotor includes superconducting coils
and rotating cryogenic cooling.
