Don't lie to your kids. It sets up serious cognitive dissonance, and may very well not only undermine everything you're attempting to do but future relationships. They're not as stupid as we are. No reason to dumb it down, no harm in saying "I honestly do not know the answer to that" when that's the case, which it is in many, MANY cases.
"Look it up." Always a good answer.
