My review of the Air King branded 9" High Performance Pivot Fan model 9530.
This is overall an excellent fan in my opinion. Like many of Air King's models, this is an older design from the 90s that used to sell under the Lasko brand as the Whirlwind. Not much has changed with it's design since then, and for good reason.
The specifications provided by the manufacturer are a bit of an exaggeration to say the least, it's far louder than it suggests and moves a fair bit less air than it claims. That being said, the noise level is quite low, below conversation volume on low and medium, and is a pleasant tone that's easily ignorable. The air flow is quite strong and carries a good distance from the fan, effectively stirring up a lot of air around the room with a good range of speeds to choose from.
It puts out a very respectable breeze for the size, but the form factor is a lot bulkier than most people would think with it being advertised as a 9" model. It measured just over 1' across in total, and about that much tall. The blade itself is about 9". The base is plenty sturdy on a flat surface and also allows for wall mounting.
The unit is very easy to take apart for cleaning; the guards remove with no tools and the blade is held on with a removable nut -- exactly the way it should be.
It's not all perfect though. The blade is out of balance which is a big bummer -- very common issue for both Lasko and Air King products. It is also rather power hungry despite being a PSC motor. The cord wrap is also worthless, but I suspect this isn't a big deal to most people.
Even with it's flaws, I still very much like this fan and regularly use it around the house in various different use cases. It's a classic, traditional design that comes at quite a good value which has somehow escaped the last 5 years of inflation.
