I flew on India’s longest nonstop flight from Bengaluru to San Francisco. This Air India flight covers a distance of 8,701 miles and it is the longest flight operated by a Boeing 777-200/LR and the world’s 9th longest flight. The flight is pretty wild with over 800 mph speed due to strong tail wind.

My Journey started at Bengaluru Int’l Airport Terminal 2 with amazing garden setting. It is India’s nicest airport terminal. The non-stop flight to San Francisco is operated by a leased B777 from Delta Air Lines with hybrid decor. It features 28 Suites in Business Class, 48 Premium Economy and 212 Economy seats.

We took off with powerful thrust setting with close to maximum takeoff weight. Captain Mohammed Ali Khan explained the routing of the flight and the takeoff performance calculation. He also explained about the “Bump Thrust” feature unique to the B777-200/LR that can provide 5,000 pounds of additional thrust from the engines during takeoff.

I checked out the current long-haul service offering of Air India. The flight service included 2 full meals. Business Class passengers receive pajamas, amenity kit, and slippers. Has Air India improved? I gave my verdict at the end of the long flight.
