Welcome back! As a Maya Lighting Master, let’s break down the aiPhysicalSky node options from Arnold in Autodesk Maya. This node simulates real-world daylight perfectly.

Here is the step-by-step breakdown of what each attribute does in simple words:
1. Turbidity (Current: 5.232)
What it means: Think of this as air pollution, dust, or moisture in the sky.
How it works:
Low values (closer to 1-2): Gives you a perfectly clear, crisp, sharp blue sky (like a clear day in the mountains).
High values (like your 5.232 or higher): Introduces dust and haze. The sky gets warmer/more yellow, and the sun spreads out, making the light softer and more orange.
2. Ground Albedo
What it means: The color and reflectivity of the earth/ground below the horizon.
How it works: This determines the color of the light that bounces back up into the atmosphere from the ground. If you are making a snowy scene, you’d change this to white; for a forest, a dark greenish-brown.
3. Elevation (Current: 45.000)
What it means: The height of the sun in the sky (the angle).
How it works:
0: The sun is exactly at the horizon (Sunrise or Sunset).
90: The sun is directly overhead (Noon), creating very short, harsh shadows right beneath objects.
45 (Your setting): Perfect mid-afternoon or mid-morning sun, giving nice, readable shadows.
4. Azimuth (Current: 90.000)
What it means: The rotation of the sun around your scene (Compass direction).
How it works: Changing this value spins the sun 360 degrees around your world space. Use this to change which side of your 3D models the shadows are falling on.
5. Intensity (Current: 2.870)
What it means: The overall brightness of the sky and the sun.
How it works: You have it boosted to 2.870, which makes the daylight much stronger and brighter. If your render looks blown out or too white, lower this closer to 1.0.
6. Sky Tint & Sun Tint
What it means: Custom color overrides for the atmosphere and the sun disk.
How it works: By default, they are white because Arnold calculates the colors realistically based on your Elevation and Turbidity. If you want a stylistic or sci-fi look (like a purple sky or a red sun), you can plug colors into these slots.
7. Sun Size (Current: 0.510)
What it means: How big the sun disk appears in the sky.
How it works:
This is a massive trick for shadow control! A tiny sun size creates razor-sharp shadows.
If you increase this number, the sun becomes physically larger in the sky, which makes your shadows much softer and blurred at the edges.
8. Enable Sun (Checked)
What it means: The master switch for the direct sun light source.
How it works: With it checked, you get both the ambient sky light and the direct, strong sunlight that casts hard shadows. If you uncheck it, the sun disappears, leaving you with a soft, overcast, cloudy-day ambient lighting.
