Hot on the heels of the Nobel Prize in Chemistry being awarded to DeepMind’s AlphaFold – an AI model revolutionizing protein structure prediction – the MIT Club of Northern California was excited to host an event exploring the fast-growing field of AI-driven scientific discovery. This technology is increasingly being designed to power autonomous systems that “close the loop” of the scientific method, promising breakthroughs in industries that are highly regulated, capital-intensive, and challenging to scale.
