The use of generative AI has created a commiserate rise in the number of contributions to open source projects. Even if these contributions are valid and helpful, the sheer volume of incoming PRs and issues can easily overwhelm maintainers.
Better to use AI to focus on the "bigger" problems that will bring real improvements to a project.
