Agrupamento Kisangela is an Angolan musical-political-cultural group active between 1974 and 1979, formed a year before National Independence by the cultural section of the JMPLA (Youth section of the People's Movement for the Liberation of Angola) with the prospect of becoming its cultural arm. Its main objective was to serve as a vehicle for the transmission of MPLA (Movimento Popular de Libertação de Angola) guidelines and policy strategy. The group brought together several singers and composers, following the closure of the main recording studios.
'Kissangela' means 'socialization and equitable distribution of means' in the Kimbundu language. The group consisted of about 30 artists, working in various fields, such as instrumental music, dance, poetry and song. The group had an intense relationship with the MPLA, serving the demands of musical pamphleteering. It even went so far as to start Agostinho Neto's rallies (Neto was was an Angolan communist revolutionary, politician and poet. who served as the first president of Angola from 1975 to 1979, after leading the MPLA during the war for independence).
The political-cultural group died out in 1981 (Kisangela, in the national language Kimbundu means socialization and equitable distribution of means).
This is their third album, released shortly before they disbanded (CDA, Angola, 1979)
