Aging with Dignity: A Conversation on Home and Community Care for Older Adults Living with HIV

This session begins with a 20-minute presentation by older adults living with HIV (OALHIV)/peer research associates (PRAs) from the Thrive project team at the BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS: Patience Magagula, Claudette Cardinal, and Antonio Marante. The presentation provides an overview of the journey travelled by OALHIV in BC while aging, including personal narratives and community-based research findings from the Thrive project, a home and community care study. This session then invites all attendees to join a conversation on home and community care to enable aging with dignity by asking: In what ways can BC improve culturally safe, home and community care? As you age, what changes would you like to see to support aging with dignity for OALHIV, LGBTQIA2S+, and the general population? Through this peer-led conversation, attendees will explore pathways and obstacles to home and community care, learning about different home and community care models and cultural safety considerations.
