What does a rural aged care placement really look like?
At Inverell, our students have hands-on learning across residential aged care, community services, and the local multi-purpose health service. Working alongside experienced clinicians and dedicated care teams, students build clinical skills while forming meaningful connections with older members of the community.
For many students, aged care is an unexpected highlight of their rural placement. Each day brings new challenges, new conversations, and opportunities to make a real difference in someone’s life.
Through partnerships with local services such as McLean Care, the Department of Rural Health provides immersive placements that support multidisciplinary learning while strengthening the rural health workforce.
These experiences help students develop confidence, compassion, and a deeper understanding of the role aged care plays in supporting healthy, connected rural communities.
