My father died of lung cancer 12 hours after I made this donation. I was still in the hotel.

Elipsis here, this is my seventh time attending a GDQ in person and as always, this event has been amazing. Unfortunately, the work we’re doing here to raise money for the PCF has never felt so personal.

Right now, my father has a few days left to live due to lung cancer. He’s probably the reason I loved video games enough to come here and meet so many friends. When I was 4 he seemed like a god in Decathalon for Atari 2600. When I was 10 he played hundreds of hours of RBI Baseball 93 with me, even though he lost pretty much every time.

This is the last GDQ that my dad will be around for. But he will always be remembered and loved.
