Tropical Storm Edouard came ashore Tuesday afternoon as a strong tropical storm on the southwest Louisiana coast.
At landfall, the storm had maximum sustained winds of 60 mph, making it a strong tropical storm. Now that it's ashore, it is expected to weaken quickly.
The bodies of a Texas chiropractor and a lifelong martial artist have been found after a major flash flood swept through the Grand Canyon. One person remains unaccounted for after about 80 others were rescued over the weekend, officials said Monday.
Saturday’s flash flood severely damaged the only water pipeline serving Grand Canyon National Park. Officials barred tourists from staying at lodges and hotels inside the park and issued emergency water restrictions for year-round residents. Waves of torrential rain hit the Bright Angel Creek area of the tourist destination that hosts 4.4 million visitors a year.
And Iran vowed Tuesday to retaliate against the latest U.S. strikes on the country, prompting President Donald Trump to threaten an even stronger American response if Iran follows through.
In a statement carried by Iran's state-run IRNA news agency, the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces said Iran would deliver “devastating and painful blows” against the U.S. military in response to the strikes.
In an interview with Fox News, Trump said the U.S. strikes targeted Iranian forces who were rebuilding radar systems. U.S. Central Command said earlier Tuesday that the strikes were in response to attempted attacks on commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and on U.S. service members deployed to the region.
