July 27 of this year will not be forgotten by many in the Fox Valley as a tornado ripped through the area and caused a lot of damage.
One of those areas was Menasha, and with the high school football team kicking off practice this week it must get ready for a new season while the area is trying to recover.
Because of the tornado Menasha was forced to move its home games from Calder Stadium to the Banta Bowl, on the campus of Lawrence University, as Calder Stadium suffered damage. The Bluejays can't wait for their season opener at their new home.
Friday night football has always been big in Menasha but now it may take on more meaning as football games can be an escape for the community and watch some football. Furthermore, the Bluejays hope this can be a special season on the field.
Hopefully the Bluejays can be part of the community's eventual turnaround.
