After catastrophic flooding destroyed the RM 1431 bridge over Cow Creek, TxDOT’s Austin District employees designed and delivered a resilient replacement structure in record time. TxDOT and contractor teams worked together under an accelerated project timeline—sometimes around the clock and despite challenging terrain—to build a taller, wider, and safer crossing. The result was a modern, durable bridge open to the public just 29 days from the start of construction and 45 days from the washout — restoring a vital connection between the Lago Vista and Marble Falls communities.
