In this video, we explore a new design for an Afro-Modern multi-family residence to be built in Pokuase - Accra, Ghana. This three-story apartment building, topped with a fourth-level roof deck, is designed to combine flexibility, sustainability, and modern living into one cohesive design.
At the heart of this project is a powerful idea: designing for both today and the future. Initiated by a mother thinking generationally, this residence reflects a vision of adaptability, family, and long-term value.
Each floor features a hybrid 3-bedroom layout that can function as:
-One spacious 3-bedroom apartment
-Or two separate units (2-bedroom + 1-bedroom)
This allows the building to range from 3 to 6 total units, offering flexibility for:
-Multi-generational living
-Rental income opportunities
-Or full private use
The design also embraces Afro-Modern principles, incorporating adobe interlocking blocks and sustainable strategies that respond to the local climate and lifestyle in Ghana.
