Co-author Fadhel Kaboub (Associate Professor of Economics, Denison University and member of the Earth4All Transformational Economics Commission) and contributor Amos Wemanya (Senior Climate Advisor, Power Shift Africa) present the arguments of a new paper, "Africa's just transition opportunity" — that Africa’s path to a just transition cannot be separated from structural economic decolonisation, and that addressing the continent’s deep-rooted deficits in food, energy and manufacturing is essential to breaking cycles of debt and climate vulnerability. They will also make the case for why much of what currently passes for “climate finance” risks deepening, rather than reversing, Africa’s economic entrapment.
