Amharic is spoken as a first language by about 40 million people in Ethiopia and wherever there is a large Ethiopian community. In this episode of this African Languages series, we take a deep dive into Ethiopia’s language of Amharic. Astin Teferi and Betty Desta will give you an overview at how this language is used in everyday social practices - such as writing, speaking, and interacting with peers. Moreover, we’ll also cover how this language is used with technology, and how we can improve the way Amharic speakers interact with each other and the world through language technology.
