A-frame Camping & Exploring Steamboat Rock State Park
Easter weekend, we headed up the Columbia River in Eastern Washington to Steamboat Rock State Park. Please subscribe to our channel if you enjoy Camping and exploring parks.
This is our 3rd trip out with our 2026 Flagstaff A-Frame Camper. This time we have full hook ups and a beautiful campsite right on the lake. It is starting to feel like we are "back". So many things that we haven't done in a few years are coming back to us now.
We spent a beautiful weekend walking and hiking and we still were able to enjoy a fire in the evening!
Steamboat Rock State Park is part of the Ice Age Floods that you will hear us reference in our videos. Here is a bit more info about that. Near the end of the last Ice Age, enormous ice dams repeatedly formed and failed in what is now western Montana. Each failure released large amounts of water that swept across eastern Washington, scouring basalt bedrock, transporting massive boulders and creating iconic landforms such as the Columbia River Gorge, Grand Coulee and the channeled scablands.
These floods didn’t just happen once. They occurred many times, leaving behind clear geological evidence that connects landscapes across the state.
At Happy Trails Hiking, we encourage you to live the life you love and seek solace and adventure in America’s Parks and Public Lands. We strive to motivate and inspire people through travel.
Kay and Matt have been planning park travel and traveling to parks across the country for 25+ years. Kay has planned trips to National Parks for High School groups as well as couples over the last 7 years. Their personal tips and trail guides can be found on their various social media platforms as well as on their website.
Our Park Travel and camping videos come out on Sundays.
