AFP News Agency | #AFP80Years: Sports journalist Alice Lefebvre, the first woman in AFP's football department | AFP @AFP | Uploaded October 2024 | Updated October 2024, 1 week ago.
As part of our interview series to mark AFP’s 80th anniversary, sports journalist Alice Lefebvre explains what it was like to be the first woman to be appointed to AFP's football department. Since March 2023, Lefebvre has covered both the men's and women's teams of the Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) football club and the French women's national team.
"There's always this worry of being judged," says Lefebvre.
AFP is one of the world’s largest news agencies, with more than 1,700 journalists working in 150 countries. To mark our anniversary, we’re turning our cameras on our own journalists. They will tell you about the work they do, through their most memorable stories. Some covered the war in Ukraine, documented the beginning of a global pandemic, interviewed world leaders or reported on deforestation in the Amazon. Many have risked their lives several times. They did it all with one goal in mind: to provide the world with impartial and verified information.
You can find our journalists' stories across all our social media platforms from 9 September.
