So during my holiday me and a friend attempted to hike the Affric Kintail Way. We knew it was going to be a bit of a risk in March weather wise and sadly it didn’t play out this time.
We planned to wild camp at around the ten mile mark but this wasn’t possible due to the heavy rain and a river crossing becoming impassable.
We therefore made the decision at appox 18.00 to walk another few hours to cannich campsite. I didn’t film anything along that final stretch as we were fighting time and daylight hours. Plus the weather seemed to get a lot worse with stronger winds and relentless hail.
We arrived at the campsite in the dark at about 21.00. Me and my friend discussed the weather next morning. Unfortunately the updated weather forecast wasn’t looking great over the next few days. At the end the week snow settled and stormy weather hit.
It was possible to continue but with the bad weather and the remoteness of the trail we thought it best to call it a day and reattempt the trail another time. After all the trail isn’t going anywhere.
It’s never easy making the decision to quit. I still wanted to still show you day one. I didn’t film as much as usual as the weather was so miserable 😅
