Tony Khan has officially confirmed that AEW is still interested in returning to the video game market! After the release of AEW: Fight Forever in 2023, fans have been wondering if AEW Fight Forever 2 or an entirely new AEW console game could eventually happen. Now, Tony Khan has addressed the future of AEW Games and made it clear that the door is NOT closed.
During the AEW Redemption post-show media scrum, Tony Khan revealed that he would be interested in taking another run at gaming and trying new things. He also explained that AEW learned a lot from the experience of developing and launching Fight Forever, calling it an ambitious project for such a young company.
However, this does NOT mean AEW Fight Forever 2 has been officially announced. Khan emphasized that AEW would never want to rush into another game and suggested that the company could explore different types of games and different platforms rather than simply making another traditional console wrestling game.
This news is especially interesting considering recent reports surrounding the financial performance of AEW: Fight Forever. According to reporting from Insider Gaming's Mike Straw, Fight Forever reportedly resulted in at least a $30 million loss for AEW after development delays, increased costs and sales reportedly coming in at roughly half of the company's expectations.
So what could the future of AEW Games actually look like? Could AEW eventually return with Fight Forever 2? Could a completely different developer take over?
