Here's an idea for you - using helicopters as public transport. While it may sound like a wild idea today, it was seriously considered for use as mass public transport in Australia in the 1950s and 60s. This was somewhat achieved in Britain for some time in very limited use but never 'took off' in Australia.
One idea was to put a helipad on top of what was then Spencer Street Station in the heart of Melbourne. So where did this idea come from and why was it proposed in the first place?
