Zach and I attended a Free Museum Friday here in Massachusetts at Battleship Cove in Fall River, Massachusetts. I remember going to Battleship Cove as a kid and wanted to bring Zach to see it for a couple years now. It has definitely gotten better over the years. Main exhibits include PT Boats PT-617 and PT-796, the U.S.S. Joseph P. Kennedy Jr. (DD-850), the centerpiece which is the U.S.S. Massachusetts (BB-59) battleship, and a really cool historical submarine the U.S.S. Lionfish (SS-298).
Along our way through the ships, Zach found many interesting things such as fire alarms (he loves fire alarms and I have no clue why), touching many controls, knobs, switches on all the ships, and we even found an old ice cream machine in the U.S.S. Lionfish submarine. He also learned more about our history, got to meet many of our hero veterans that were volunteering their time to teach us about naval history, and was able to ride the carousel which is located right outside the museum. I'm glad that the Highland Street Foundation (highlandstreet.org/) in Massachusetts is able to provide these Free Fun Fridays where we received free admission into Battleship Cove and the carousel. It was a great day as you can see.
