December is here (shudder), and the cultural sprint has begun—decorations, office parties, shopping, and the nagging fear we’re already behind. But Advent invites us into a different rhythm: not frantic doing, but watching and waiting. Instead of letting December carry us away, we’re slowing down to remember the story of God’s redemption—where strength is found “in returning and rest… in quietness and in trust” (Isaiah 30:15).

This is an Advent for the lives we actually have: messy, beautiful, overstuffed, and still deeply loved by God.

In this Advent reflection episode of Everything Happens, we light a candle at the beginning, not the end. We practice small pauses of prayer, a quiet breath at the table, a reminder that God is coming, and we don’t have to hold everything together by ourselves. Whether you feel wildly prepared or already behind, you are right on time. Welcome to Advent—let’s begin again.
