This remarkable footage was recorded by one of the Museum’s curators in 1972. The film documents the official opening of the RAF Museum London (RAF Hendon) by Her Majesty the Queen, on the 15 November 1972.
Upon her arrival, Her Majesty signed the Guest Book and unveils the Commemorative plaque that remains the foyer of Hangar 3.
The pen used by Her Majesty in the film is also another one of 50th Anniversary Adopt An Artefact Objects.
This artefact is part of our digital collection and was chosen by our Curator of Film and Sound, Ewan Burnett.
