Operation SOLANIA is the ADF’s contribution to regional security, working in partnership with the Pacific Islands Forum Fisheries Agency (FFA) to support Pacific Island nations.
Under Operation SOLANIA, the Australian Defence Force (ADF) supported the FFA’s second maritime surveillance operation for 2026 - Operation Tui Moana – in Cook Islands and Tonga from 11 – 22 May 2026.
Operation TUI MOANA was a coordinated maritime surveillance operation in which Cook Islands, Fiji, Kiribati, Niue, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tokelau, Tonga and Tuvalu—with support from Australia, France, New Zealand and the United States of America – cooperated to detect IUU fishing activity.
The ADF supported Operation TUI MOANA with air surveillance of Cook Islands’ and Tonga’s EEZs, in conjunction with Guardian-class Patrol Boats delivered to Pacific nations by Defence under the Pacific Maritime Security Program.
